What if a client holds you to ransom?
Do not drop your fee to keep them. A client who only works with you at a discount was never really your client, and discounting trains them to expect less while telling you your own standards are negotiable. Hold the fee or walk, and win more for it.
"A lot of people have seemed to have lost all confidence in their value and they're so quick to reduce their fees or work at some crazy amount just to get the business."
A lot of people have seemed to have lost all confidence in their value and they're so quick to reduce their fees or work at some crazy amount just to get the business. If we just stop and think about that, is that because we've lost faith in ourselves and faith in what we deliver and our value? That's the question we need to be asking ourselves.
Why are we panicking? There are some clients that they agree the fee and at the final stages of doing the deal, the client was saying, if she dropped your fee, we won't do the deal with you. So they held her ransom.
And my question is, well, why are we dealing with those clients in the first place? It is inserting like construction recruitment, absolutely getting invoices paid, getting cash into a company's and nightmare for them.
