What is the biggest scaling mistake?
Hiring before the standards exist. Growth built on an undefined desk multiplies the chaos, because behaviours that were never nailed down do not appear just because headcount arrived. Get the standard right while it is just you, prove it works, then add people to a working system.
"The biggest mistake of hiring in this current time is rushing to bring people in."
The biggest mistake of hiring in this current time is rushing to bring people in. First of all they're not organised, they don't have the right foundations to bring people in. So we need to do a bit of work on our business foundations as to what their focus is going to be rather than find people and kind of fudge it.
The key thing is finding the right people and not rushing it. Rather than thinking I need to take five people on and hiring the first five we find, take time is so important to take time hiring people. Rushing it is a false economy because they're not likely to last and we go round and round in circles and wasting so much money.
